Every Thursday, Neblett, Beard & Arsenault attorneys appear on a special segment of Good Day Cenla – The Legal Difference – to talk about frequently asked questions regarding legal matters, community involvement, and more! You can tune in to KALB every Tuesday at 11am CT to watch the show live. If you miss it, you can find all the episodes on our website, or check out our Facebook page!
On this week's episode of The Legal Difference, attorney Barbara Mixon gives an update on the firm's community involvement, and our sweepstakes! Barbara starts with an update on Feed the Teachers, the program our firm started as a way of showing our appreciation for everything educators do for our community and for our children. She explains that the firm purchases plate lunches from local non-profit organizations when they have fundraiser events, to be delivered by our attorneys to schools in Rapides Parish for the faculty and staff to enjoy. So far our firm has fed almost 900 teachers and donated over $6,000 to community organizations.
Barbara also talks about the firm's field trip program, led by attorney Mike Koch. Local classrooms are given a tour of the Rapides Parish Courthouse and have the opportunity to participate in a mock trial in one of the court rooms. They also get to talk to judges and various officials about their roles in the judicial system. After trial is complete, the class celebrates with Cici's Pizza and a tour of the firm to speak with attorneys and staff about their daily roles.
Barbara's community project, something near to her heart, is her Little Free Libraries locations in Bunkie, LA. The two locations were established by Barbara in honor of her grandmother, the Cottonport Librarian for almost 40 years. It is a free book-exchange program where people can take a book in exchange for donating one. Barbara also announced that she's working on creating a third location!
Barbara then talks about the attorneys and staff at Neblett, Beard & Arsenault, and how proud she is to work for a firm that cares for its community. Many of our attorneys are involved in not only firm-sponsored events, but personal programs that are meaningful to them, such as Barbara's Little Free Libraries project. She says she's grateful to work for a firm that cares about paying it forward, and giving back to the community that has supported our firm for so many years.
Wrapping up the segment, Barbara reminds everyone of our Distracted Driving Sweepstakes. There are 55 Finalist spots left, and if you haven't yet been selected as a Finalist, you can continue to re-renter each week through the quiz on the firm's website. The winner will be announced after the AFC Championship Game on KALB, January 3rd.
