This year, the Central Louisiana division of the FCA hosted their 8th Annual FCA Banquet at Louisiana College. Louisiana State University fullback and 2017 First Team Academic All-American, J.D. Moore, spoke at the conference, encouraging the young athletes in attendance to become leaders on their teams and in their communities through selflessness and serving others first.
As LSU fans may know, J.D. Moore wears the #18 jersey for the Tigers. But what you may not know is that the jersey holds great significance, and it is a tradition that has been handed down for decades. Coaches choose who will receive the honor of the #18 jersey, but it’s not necessarily given to the best player. #18 is worn by a player who works hard, both on and off the field. The #18 player is someone who has good character and leads the team by example of upstanding behavior and service leadership.
In 2017, for the first time in LSU history, the honor of wearing the #18 jersey went to two players: Christian Lacouture, and J.D. Moore. Moore is honored to have been chosen to wear the jersey for LSU and shared his experience about learning to be a leader with his fellow athletes at the banquet.
Neblett, Beard and Arsenault sponsored a table at the event, and attorney Mike Koch attended the event as well as donated the table’s tickets to local FCA members.
