Gary J. Arsenault was born in Bay Shore, New York. He attended Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge, Louisiana and graduated with a degree in Accounting in 1979. Gary went into Public Accounting after graduation and was a partner in a CPA firm in Baton Rouge until 1991 when he decided to return to school and obtain a law degree.
Upon graduation from Law School, Gary joined his brother, Richard J. Arsenault at Neblett, Beard & Arsenault in Alexandria, Louisiana. Gary had been involved in personal injury litigation since 1994.
Gary’s hard work and dedication to both the community and the Bar are reflected in his actions as a lawyer and community member. Gary is currently a member of the Cross Roads American Inn of Court, he previously was a member of the Executive Counsel and held positions as the Program Chair for the 2003-2004 program year and Secretary Treasurer in the 1999-2000 program year. Gary has also served on the Central Louisiana Pro Bono Project Board. Gary served as Chair, Chair Elect, Secretary Treasurer and Executive Counsel Member of the Alexandria Bar Association Young Lawyers Section. Gary received the First Place Affiliate Award for “Service to the Bar” presented by the Louisiana State Bar Associations Young Lawyers Section during its annual meeting on June 9, 2000. Gary has also been included in the 9th Edition of Who’s Who in American Law and is a member of the Association of Trial Lawyers of America, The Louisiana Trial Lawyers, and the Society of Louisiana Certified Public Accountants. Gary Chaired the 1999 Central Louisiana Bench/Bar Conference and Co-Authored “Maritime Gaming and Available Tort Remedies, ” Vol. 7, No. 2, Maritime Law Reporter, 1995. Gary has also been engaged as a guest speaker on Maritime Law, Jones Act Seamen and Vessel Status and recently was guest speaker in Aspen, Colorado on Penalties Available for Arbitrary and Capricious Behavior of Insurers.
Gary was recently asked to prepare an Amicus Brief by the Louisiana Association for Justice in Bellard v. American Central Insurance Company, 982 So.2d 654 (La. 4/18/08)
Gary has served as Judge in the Central Louisiana High School Mock Trial Competition and has participated in several community projects, including Career Day, field trips for students to Rapides Parish Prison and the 9th Judicial District Courthouse and the Alexandria Bar Associations Annual Christmas Project for needy children.
Gary is a member of St. Rita’s Catholic Church in Alexandria, Louisiana. Gary is married to Beth Arsenault and they have two children, Andre and Isabella.
